AUDREY NABILA MONKAM, candidate representing the North-West region, is the new Miss Cameroon 2020. The final of the 14th edition of the Miss Cameroon beauty contest was held on Saturday 28 December 2019 at the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex, in the capital of Cameroon. The ceremony, under the supervision of the Minister of Arts and Culture (MINAC), Pierre Ismaël BIDOUNG KPWATT, was attended by members of the government and many distinguished guests. The jury included three foreign misses, who came to add lustre to this important moment of crowning Cameroonian beauty. The quality of the organisation of this edition reinforces the confidence renewed by the supervising Ministry of Culture in COMICA for the management of the Miss Cameroon label. Despite some shortcomings noted in quality and content, the president of COMICA rose to the challenge of delivering the event. It should be noted that COMICA (Miss Cameroon Committee), which has promoted this event for several years, had had the organisation withdrawn in 2018 on the instruction of the former MINAC, Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI, who then cited serious management failings in Miss Cameroon. These shortcomings followed the denunciations of Miss 2018, stripped of her crown, preceded by convoluted episodes that made headlines in the press and which, for the supervising ministry, damaged Cameroon’s image. AUDREY NABILA MONKAM succeeds CAROLINE AIME NSEKE, who had worn the crown for more than 2 years. NABILA MONKAM AUDREY is only 24 years old and holds a degree in banking and finance. The North-West candidate for Miss Cameroon 2020 thus climbs to the top step of the national podium. TOURISTIQUE EXPRESS, official land carrier of Miss Cameroon, wished to join this adventure with a view not only to supporting Cameroonian culture, but also to accompanying the new Miss Cameroon in her new duties as ambassador of Cameroonian beauty. Aware of this growing partnership, the miss insisted on making a visit on 8 January to the Touristique Express 777 Business Class terminal, to thank the Managing Director’s collaborators for all the support given to her. For the occasion, a travel ticket worth 225,000 FCFA was presented to the members of COMICA and to Miss Cameroon. We wish the new Miss every success in her projects.
